About

Baratto Wines is a second generation family business that started back when Peter’s father, Florindo Baratto, immigrated to Australia in 1949 and purchased bare land in Hanwood.

The first vines were planted in 1960 and some of these vines are still producing grapes today. It was in 1970 that Florindo decided to make a small batch of Trebbiano wine in a small cement tank for family and friends. It was enjoyed so much he made more, and the demand continued.

Florindo’s son Peter took over the reigns and continues the family tradition.

Cellar Door & Events

Baratto Wines is a family owned and operated vineyard and winery, with a beautiful cellar door that looks over the family vineyards.

Peter and Karen Baratto are owner/operators who are hands on with every aspect of the business from growing the grapes to packaging the finished product and everything in between. Due to this they encourage visitors to call ahead before visiting just in case they’re in the vineyard.

Their cellar door is also available for private hire. Contact Karen for more details on the number below.

Wines

Baratto Wines produces traditional varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz & Chardonnay or if you prefer something unique try our Fragolina, Iced Chardonnay or Botrytis Port.

Wines are seasonal, meaning each vintage is unique due to weather and conditions of that year.  For this reason stock may be limited and the product list is always changing.
